The forges of Sanctuary burn bright as Diablo 4's Season 4: Loot Reborn began on May 14 at 10 a.m. PT. This season brings an overhaul to the game's itemization system with new mechanics like Tempering and Masterworking.
Tempering allows players to add potent affixes to their equipment by learning Tempering Manuals found throughout the game. Masterworking is an end-game crafting system that uses rare materials to upgrade weapons to untold prowess.
Other itemization changes include reduced affixes on items but with higher values, adjustments to item drop rates and materials, and the introduction of Greater Affixes that are 1.5x more powerful versions found only on top-tier gear.
The Helltide event also receives an update. Players will now generate Threat levels that can lead to being Hell-Marked, unleashing densely packed demon ambushes culminating in a fight against a Hellborn enemy. The Accursed Ritual allows players to trigger a demonic onslaught ending with the Blood Maiden boss.
A new endgame challenge, The Pit of Artificers, awaits in World Tier IV. Players collect Runeshards to activate the Pit's increasing difficulty levels, battling through timed monster waves to earn Masterworking materials.
The Maiden of Anguish, Andariel, joins as a new boss, while existing bosses gain Tormented Echo variants at Level 200 that drop improved rewards.
Players can also join the Iron Wolves mercenary company through a new questline to earn Tempering Manuals and other rewards tied to the Season Journey and Battle Pass.
