On June 5, 2024, Avalanche Software released a significant update for their 2023 action role-playing game, Hogwarts Legacy, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The patch, with build version 1218405, brings new content and addresses various bugs across all supported platforms.
Hogwarts Legacy, set in the Wizarding World a century before the Harry Potter novels, allows players to control a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Since its release in February 2023, the game has been a commercial success, selling over 24 million copies globally by early 2024 and generating over $1 billion in revenue.
The latest update's key feature is the inclusion of the Haunted Shop mission, previously exclusive to Sony platforms. This mission is now accessible to all players, along with items like the Onyx Hippogriff mount, Felix Felicis Potion, and Shopkeeper Cosmetic set.
New cosmetic items have been added, including the Lavender Borealis, Azkaban-themed gear, and Circular Taped Spectacles. A new broom is also available. The update also introduces a Photo Mode and a talent point reset function.
The patch fixes numerous bugs in localization, audio, UI, gameplay, achievements, NPC behavior, avatar interactions, navigation, combat, lighting, and accessibility. Platform-specific fixes are included for PlayStation 5 and PC.
Notably, over a year after its initial release, Hogwarts Legacy continues to receive updates across all platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. This ongoing support demonstrates the developers' commitment to improving the game and providing new content for its diverse player base.
