DLSS 3 Delivers Massive Performance Boost in Hellblade II & Serum

NVIDIA's DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) 3 technology multiplied frame rates in two highly anticipated games that launched this week – Senua's Saga: Hellblade II and Serum.

Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, the sequel to the award-winning Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, launched on May 21st with day-one support for DLSS 3 and NVIDIA Reflex. With DLSS 3 activated, the game's frame rates were multiplied by an average of 3X at 4K resolution with all settings maxed out. GeForce RTX 4070 users could enjoy over 60 FPS, while the top-of-the-line RTX 4090 could reach nearly 150 FPS. At lower resolutions like 1440p and 1080p, DLSS 3 provided an average performance uplift of 2.3X and 2.1X, respectively.

Serum, a survival game with a unique time mechanic, launched in Early Access on May 23rd with support for DLSS 3, DLAA (Deep Learning Anti-Aliasing), and Reflex. DLSS 3 multiplied performance by an average of 2.6X at 4K, allowing RTX 40 Series GPUs to reach up to 130 FPS with maxed settings. At 1440p, the performance gain was an average of 2.2X, enabling smooth gameplay above 60 FPS on all RTX 40 Series GPUs.

Both games also featured NVIDIA Reflex, which reduced system latency by up to 57% in Senua's Saga: Hellblade II and 48% in Serum, providing a more responsive gaming experience.

In other NVIDIA news, the Star Citizen – Alpha 3.23 update introduced DLSS 2 support, boosting frame rates in CPU-limited scenarios. Additionally, two new titles, Ships At Sea and Wuthering Waves, launched with day-one DLSS 2 support for improved performance and visual fidelity.
