In an extensive interview with South Korean website Ruliweb, Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung-tae and Technical Director Lee Dong-ki provided details on the upcoming action-adventure game Stellar Blade and its post-launch plans.
Stellar Blade is an upcoming action-adventure game developed by Shift Up and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment for the PlayStation 5, scheduled for release on April 26, 2024. In the game, the future of humanity hangs in the balance as strange, powerful creatures known as the Naytiba have ravaged Earth, forcing the decimated human race to flee to a Colony in outer space. The protagonist Eve, a member of the 7th Airborne Squad, arrives on the desolate remains of Earth with a mission to reclaim it from the Naytiba and save humankind.
One key reveal from the interview is that Stellar Blade will receive free DLC updates after launch, including additional costumes for Eve and a New Game+ mode.
"We are preparing free updates such as additional costumes. I can clearly state here that apart from the package purchase cost, Stellar Blade will not require any additional expenditure from gamers that they are unaware of," stated CEO Kim Hyung-tae. "The only exception is if we create a collaboration costume with a third-party IP, then that may be sold as paid DLC."
He further added, "Note that the launch version will not have a New Game+ mode, but it will be updated at a very early stage, so please look forward to it."
The developers also discussed their close collaboration with Sony on localization, QA, and testing to ensure a polished experience for the PS5 exclusive title.
Stellar Blade released a gameplay demo on March 29th, with progress carrying over to the full game.
