At Computex 2024 in Taipei, Intel took the wraps off a range of cutting-edge technologies poised to dramatically accelerate AI adoption across the computing landscape - from data centers and clouds to networks, edge devices, and PCs.
The highlights included Intel's new Xeon 6 processors with Efficient-cores (E-cores) designed for high-density, scale-out data center workloads. The Xeon 6 E-core delivers up to 4.2x rack-level performance gains and 2.6x better performance per watt compared to 2nd Gen Intel Xeon processors. This enables 3:1 data center rack consolidation for significant cost and energy savings.
Intel also announced pricing for its Gaudi 2 and Gaudi 3 AI accelerator kits, providing high performance at up to one-third lower cost versus competitive offerings. Combining Xeon CPUs with Gaudi accelerators offers a powerful solution for making AI faster, cheaper and more accessible across the enterprise.
For the client computing segment, Intel unveiled its Lunar Lake processor architecture slated to power next-gen AI PCs. Lunar Lake will deliver up to 40% lower SoC power consumption and over 3x higher AI compute compared to the prior generation, enabling new levels of on-device AI capabilities.
"Intel is accelerating AI innovation across the entire computing stack - from silicon manufacturing to systems for PC, network, edge and data center," said Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger. "Our latest platforms provide the flexible, secure, sustainable and cost-effective AI solutions customers need to maximize opportunities ahead."
