Blackmagic Design's latest update to DaVinci Resolve, a leading nonlinear video editing platform, introduces two new AI-assisted tools that streamline video editing workflows. The new features, along with Resolve's existing AI-powered effects, benefit from optimization for NVIDIA RTX PCs and workstations, enabling faster performance.
The first new tool, IntelliTrack AI, is a point tracker for object tracking, stabilization, and audio panning. It can stabilize footage during editing, track on-screen subjects, and automatically generate audio panning by tracking people or objects as they move across 2D and 3D spaces. This AI-accelerated process saves editors significant time compared to manual tracking and panning.
The second tool, UltraNR, is an AI-accelerated denoise mode in Resolve's spatial noise reduction palette. It dramatically reduces digital noise from frames while maintaining image clarity, and can be combined with temporal noise reduction for even more effective denoising in images with motion.
Both IntelliTrack and UltraNR see a substantial performance boost when running on NVIDIA RTX PCs and workstations, with up to 3x faster performance on a GeForce GTX 4090 laptop compared to the Macbook Pro M3 Max, thanks to optimization for NVIDIA TensorRT deep learning inference software.
In addition to the new AI tools, the Resolve 19 update includes GPU acceleration for Beauty, Edge Detect, and Watercolor effects, doubling their performance on NVIDIA GPUs.
DaVinci Resolve's AI features, optimized for NVIDIA RTX, unlock new possibilities for video editors, allowing them to focus more on creativity by streamlining time-consuming tasks.
