Intel CEO Hints at 2x AI Performance Uplift with Upcoming Panther Lake Processors
Santa Clara, CA - During Intel's recent Q4 2023 earnings call, CEO Pat Gelsinger provided an update on the company’s client roadmap, including the forthcoming Panther Lake chips slated for 2025. Though details remain scarce at this early stage, Gelsinger suggested that Panther Lake will deliver up to 2x higher AI performance gains versus previous generations.
"In 2025 with Panther Lake, we will grow AI performance up to an additional 2x," said Gelsinger.
While Panther Lake’s specs are still taking shape years ahead of release, this disclosure provides a glimpse into Intel’s post-2024 consumer processor plans. Panther Lake looks to follow 2024’s Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake releases in Intel’s client lineup, potentially building on the AI and machine learning capabilities of those predecessors.

The earnings call also touched on progress with other Intel products like its Core Ultra mobile processors and upcoming 5th Gen Xeon data center chips. However, public details about the performance targets and architectural innovations in store for Panther Lake are not yet available.
As Intel marches towards its goal of five process nodes in four years, Panther Lake may end up being manufactured on the company’s Intel 18A node. Intel is betting big on AI to drive future growth across its entire product stack – from cloud to edge devices. So while the Panther Lake generation is still years away, doubling down on AI inference and neural processing aligns with Intel’s overarching “IDM 2.0” roadmap.
