League of Legends Patch 14.4 Full Preview

Riot Games Lead Gameplay Designer Matt Leung-Harrison recently previewed some of the planned changes for Patch 14.4 in League of Legends. According to the official patch schedule, 14.4 is set to release on Thursday, February 22nd, 2024. However, patch dates may change at any time.

The update will include systemic adjustments, as well as buffs and nerfs to various champions.

Notable system changes involve tuning Fountain regeneration to reduce downtime, modifying Lethal Tempo to shift power from early game to late game for melee champions, and adjusting support item spikes to be more consistent over time. There will also be changes to the stack counts required for maximum effect on the Pen items Terminus and Cleaver.

In terms of champions, several are slated for adjustments:

  • K'Sante will have reduced effectiveness on his all-in potential but with some compensation to his base stats.
  • Rek'Sai is shifting power towards being more of a fighter rather than an assassin. Her knockup ability is returning with some damage converting to magic damage.
  • Aurelion Sol is receiving a small nerf after overperforming recently.
  • Bard will have incentives adjusted to build Ability Power instead of tank.

Other champions like Fiora, Illaoi, Kalista, Varus, Ahri, Jayce, Kai'Sa, Renekton, Thresh, and Volibear also have tentative changes previewed.
