This mouse has the company's Laser-Grade Tracking Technology, which is related to its Darkfield Laser Tracking. The Laser-Grade Tracking Technology is meant to let you use a mouse on nearly any surface, including marble tiles and other glossy surfaces. Darkfield-capable mice take this even further by allowing you to even track on glass. It appears that the M525 has the Laser-Grade Tracking tech, not Darkfield, so it can be used on glossy surfaces that don't include glass.
